Soil Resistivity Measurements in Design and Operation of Earthing Systems

s. 28-45 DOI: 10.17274/AEZ.2014.15.02

Abstract

The main technical problems concerning the ground resistivity measurements and utilization of the test results in the design and operation of the earthing systems are presented. The paper describes the mechanism of conduction of electrical current in the ground and the impact of major environmental factors: temperature and humidity, on changes of the ground resistivity. The resistivity measurement methods used in the electrical engineering allowing to use the measured value in the design calculations, which are very important for the safety service of the built earthing systems have been indicated
