Comments on the term
Abstract
The term "energy quality" which is the Polish translation of the English term "power quality, (PQ)" has been in the last twodecades disseminated and commonly used in electrical engineering. There are opinions that "energy" is a sort of a commodity,and as such, it can have a "quality". The opinion that the "quality" is only an attribute of the supply voltage, but not of energy,is expressed in this paper. The term "voltage quality" would be equally misleading as the term "power quality", however, sincedeviation of the voltage from its ideal waveform does not provide any information on causes of this deviation, who is affectedby it and how this deviation could be reduced. To know this, the "supply quality" and the "loading quality" have to be known.Just these two terms should be used instead of the misleading term of "power quality".
